Ecological and Evolutionary Genetics of Adaptation

Research in the Streisfeld lab integrates several aspects of ecological genetics and genomics to develop a better understanding of adaptive divergence and incipient speciation in natural plant populations.
The primary questions we address are:
1) How does natural selection maintain trait differences in the face of gene flow?
2) What are the genetic and genomic changes that underlie adaptive divergence and the evolution of reproductive isolation?
3) What are the historical events that led to the evolution of adaptive alleles?
4) Are the genetic changes responsible for adaptive evolution predictable?
